Matilda Torres’ Scarlett Renwick works Madera South’s Eloisa Ruiz Garcia into a pinning position during the 130-pound NYL championship match Friday at Matilda Torres.

The Madera South Stallions sent 11 wrestlers to the North Yosemite League girls wrestling championships and came away with two champions to place second behind Sunnyside on Friday at Matilda Torres High School.

The Stallions won every dual meet while Sunnyside won the tournament, thus both are co-NYL champions. April Macedo, at 140 pounds, and Maria Hernandez-Aquino, at 110 pounds, won their championship match.

Sunnyside won the team title with 170 points, while Madera South scored 157 pounds. With just three wrestlers Matilda Torres placed third when they went 3-for-3 in the NYL finals.
