Madera South’s Isabella Zaragosa rises up for a kill attempt in Thursday’s four-set loss to Caruthers. She led the Stallions with 10 kills.
For the second match in a row, the Madera South Stallions girls volleyball team won the first set. However, for the second set in a row, the Stallions lost the next three sets for a second straight non-league loss.
The Stallions defeated the Caruthers Blue Raiders, 25-19, in the first set Thursday at Madera South, but lost the second set by the same score. Caruthers rallied late for a 25-22 win in the third set, and the scored 15 straight points to end the match with a 25-8 victory.
The Stallions still struggled with consistent play throughout the match. At times, they looked like the better team, but at times, they made mistakes that frustrated co-head coaches Sharalyn Hernandez and Karina Garcia.
