Jorge Orozco/For The Madera Tribune

Madera South’s Erika Valdivia-Rodriguez rises up for a kill during Thursday’s three-set sweep over the McLane Highlanders.

The Madera South Stallions girls volleyball team have been close all season to get co-head coaches Sharalyn Hernandez and Karina Garcia their first varsity victory.

The Stallions have been winning sets in matches. In eight of their last nine full varsity matches, the Stallions have won at least one set, and won two sets twice.

Finally, the Stallions were able to put mistakes behind them and pull together with three consistent sets for a 3-0 victory Thursday over McLane for their first full match victory of the season (The Stallions won two other matches in best two out of three tournaments).
