Madera South’s Angelina Aguirre rises up for a kill attempt during a five-set loss to Sanger West on Tuesday. She was second on the team with 11 kills.
The last time the Madera South Stallions girls volleyball team faced the Sanger West Hornets, they lost in five sets. The Stallions were hoping to revers their fortune this week at home.
However, after both teams routed the other in the first two sets, the Hornets came away with a 15-10 victory in the fifth set to sweep the Stallions in North Yosemite League play Tuesday at Madera South.
The Stallions had trouble on serve receive and couldn’t sustain runs all night. The Hornets recorded 13 service aces, including six in the first set. They missed seven serves on the night.
