Madera South senior Aryiah Rodriguez rises up for one of her seven kills in Thursday’s five-set loss to Fresno. The setter also had four aces.

The Madera South Stallions girls volleyball team was hoping to end its season with a Senior Night victory over the Fresno Warriors.

Things looked good for the Stallions after a 25-10 victory in the first set. After dropping the second set, the Stallions overcame nine set points to come-from-behind for a 29-27 win in the third set. However, Fresno won the fourth set, and took the momentum to win the fifth set, 15-12, to put a damper on Senior Nigh festivities.

Three of the four Madera South seniors were huge contributors in the match. The fourth, Jacqueline Prudente, missed the match with a sprained foot. Setter Aryiah Rodriguez recorded seven kills and four aces. Middle blocker Cherie Detomal had seven kills and opposite Erika Valdivia-Rodriguez had six aces.
