Stallions beat Coyotes in cold-shooting night

Wendy Alexander/The Madera Tribune

Madera South’s Michell Corona gets set to shoot over Madera’s Rylie Fernandez in Tuesday’s win over the Coyotes. Corona led the Stallions with seven points to go with seven steals.

In a game that saw just one-of-five shots find the bottom of the net, the Madera South Stallions did just enough for a 29-27 victory over the Madera Coyotes in Joe Flores Gym.

The Coyotes held a fourth quarter lead, but went 1-of-13 shooting in the quarter, and turned the ball over eight times to allow the Stallions to come back for the victory Tuesday evening.

Madera committed 35 turnovers in the loss. They also shot 7-of-40 (18 percent) from the field and were just one-of-11 from 3-point range. They were also just 3-of-24 (13 percent) shooting in the second half.
