Solo crash driver flown out, sustains major injuries

A female driver fell asleep at the wheel and struck a tree Saturday afternoon, and had to extricated from her vehicle.

 

Madera California Highway Patrol officers responded to a solo vehicle crash on Road 22, north of Avenue 24.


During the investigation Saturday afternoon at about 3 p.m., it was determined a 43-year-old female from Madera fell asleep behind the wheel and struck a tree.


Madera County Cal Fire had to use the jaws of life to extricate the driver from the Toyota Corolla. The driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center by CHP Helicopter.
