Madera residents line up early Wednesday morning to be among the first in the new Smart & Final near Schnoor and Cleveland avenues.

Smart & Final opened its doors to Madera residents for the first time early Wednesday morning. Located near Cleveland and Schnoor, Smart & final takes over the former Pak ’N Save location, which closed earlier this year.

With a grand opening that kicked off at 7 a.m., people were already lined up around the building to enjoy the savings and a chance to spin a wheel for prizes. Smart & Final also gave away tote bags with a qualifying $25 purchase.

A year In the works, the grocery superstore brings over forty new jobs to Madera with its opening and continues to hire throughout the region, according to a spokesperson for Smart and Final.
