Shorthanded Stallions fall to Highlanders

Madera South senior Ivan Miranda works to get a kill past a McLane defender during Thursday’s three-set loss.

The Madera South Stallions had to battle the McLane Highlanders last week without four starters, and battled tough in a three-set loss.

Four starters were out of the starting line-up against the Highlanders, so head coach Jesse Martinez had to call up a couple of junior varsity players, including freshman Jairo Parra, who made the most of his opportunity.

Parra led the Stallions with seven kills, and put down an emphatic kill on his first varsity attempt. Ivan Miranda added five kills while the Stallions had seven different players put down kills.
