Second half leads Hawks

Liberty’s Ethan Dunn runs past a Riverdale defender to set up the kick coverage team during his 78-yard kick return for a touchdown in Friday’s 41-19 victory over the Cowboys.

The Riverdale Cowboys scored a touchdown with seconds left in the first half to cut into the Liberty Hawks football team’s lead to two at the half.

However, the Hawks sent their seniors out on a happy note by shutting out the Cowboys while scoring 20 second half points for a 41-19 victory Friday.

“It was nice to come out and drive the ball down to score to come out of halftime, but then, the defense really stiffened up and held their own,” head coach Mike Nolte said. “I think it’s hard to get used to what they like to do at practice because we can’t simulate it very much. It bothered us a little bit early, but adjustments by our coaching staff at halftime, worked out good for us.”
