Purple Heart Day

Veterans’ Voices is directed toward veterans and their families who have given so much to ensure our freedom in this country. This is an area where you may share your experiences, or read of other veterans’ experiences. We thank you for your service, and hope that you know how much you are loved and appreciated.

August 7 was a very important day.

A Purple Heart is a solemn distinction. It was time for Americans to pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on a battlefield or paid the ultimate price.

According to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, more than 1.8 million Purple Heart medals have been presented to service members since the award was created in 1782.
