Madera pitcher Jaydian Chavira was dominant in five innings against Hanford West. He allowed one run on three hits with seven strikeouts in a 4-1 victory Monday.
The Madera Coyotes baseball team got a dominant pitching performance and just enough offense for a 4-1 non-conference victory over the Hanford West Huskies.
Jaydian Chavira and Jacob Rodriguez combined for a three-hitter. Chavira picked up the win. He allowed one run on three hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out seven. Rodriguez got the save over two innings. He didn’t allow a hit, walked one and struck out five.
“The pitchers did very well today,” head coach Andy Underwood said. “Chavira commanded the strike zone. He threw strikes early and often. He had a two-pitch combo and did very well. He was in the zone all night. J-Rod came in and struck out the side. He did well. Pitching was a plus tonight.”
