By now, a lot of people have probably broken at least one of their New Year’s resolutions. I quit making them years ago because they rarely made it past the first week of the year.


“This year, the plan is to lose weight, exercise more, blah, blah, blah…”


My mother had a New Year’s tradition where she insisted we all eat a serving of black-eyed peas, collard greens and cornbread on New Year’s Day.
