Opinion: Goodbye, at least, for a while
This column, which has appeared on Saturdays since 1999, will cease for an indeterminate period of time. I hope that the pause will be of relatively short duration. It really depends on how long it takes very old bones to heal.
A few weeks ago, I was about to ring the doorbell at a friend’s country home, a house located on four acres that are shared with some wildlife, like small lizards and cute little bunnies. As I was reaching for the doorbell, one of those creatures — probably a harmless lizard — ran down the wall, startled me, and I fell.
In that split second, I don’t remember exactly what happened, but I likely stuck out my left arm to break my fall. It worked. Unfortunately, it also broke my wrist.
