Obituary: Servando Galvan

Servando Galvan.

 

Servando Galvan, lovingly known as Salvan, passed away on Feb. 8, 2024, at UC Davis hospital in California. Born Oct. 1, 1962, in Madera, CA. He was the son of Pedro Galvan and Maria Cespedes Galvan. Salvan grew up in La Vina California where he lived most of his life.


In 1982 Salvan married Sylvia Gonzales and had two children, Jennifer and Sal Galvan, and his cherished grandchildren Jonas, Layla, Caleb, Donovan. In 2004 Salvan married his wife Cindi, and in addition added two step-children Alina and Althea Anzaldua his family grew with the addition of more grandchildren Adam, Kevin, Chloe, Emma, Delilah, Lucy and Zoey.


He leaves behind his brothers Joey and wife Helen Galvan, Johnny and wife Shannon Galvan, Peter and wife Alofa Galvan, Jesse and wife Marlene Galvan, and brother Bobby Galvan. His three sisters Cindy and husband Rick Guerrero, Ophie Galvan and husband Michael Orton , and sister Francis Garza.


Salvan was a hardworking and dedicated man, having spent 20 years at Oberti Olives in many roles from mechanic to supervisor. In addition to his work at Oberti Olives, Salvan went back to school to receive his certification in Electrical and HVAC, he also excelled as a handyman, using his skills to help others.


Salvan’s true joy in life came from spending time with his family. He cherished every moment he had with them and took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He particularly enjoyed working on projects with his brothers, creating lasting memories together.


When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, Salvan could often be found with his loyal companion, his dog Elsa. They shared a special bond that brought him comfort and joy.


The Pallbearers will be Sal Galvan, Jonas Galvan, Peter Galvan, Bobby Galvan, Johnny Galvan and Zak Littleton.


Service to honor Salvan’s life will be held on Feb. 28, 2024, with the viewing from 9 to 11 a.m., at Jay Chapel, 1121 Roberts Ave., Madera, CA, following the service, Salvan will be laid to rest at Arbor Vitae Cemetery. A reception will be held for him afterwards. This will be an opportunity for friends and family to come together, honor Salvan’s life, and offer support to his loved ones during this difficult time.


You will be missed greatly, we will cherish all the laughs and memories we have made together and forever will be in our hearts. Till we meet again husband, dad, brother. We love you.
