Carla F. Pimentel, 75, died on Aug. 13, 2023, after a long illness. Born in Merced, she grew up in various towns in Madera County.

She worked in the nutrition department for the Madera Unified School District, preparing 7,000 entrees a day. These were served in the various cafeterias throughout the district, retiring in 1995.

On June 29, 1975, Carla and Walt Pimentel of Madera were married in Reno, Nevada. They spent their marriage living in and around Madera.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Walt Pimentel, brother James Young of Madera, sister Shirley and husband Dick Taylor of Tulsa, OK, sister-in-law Dolores and husband Dennis Sawyer of Hanford, her faithful dog, Daryl, various nieces, nephews and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, no service will be held at this time.

The Pimentel family expresses its gratitude to Jackie, Martha, Candy, Veronica, Lucy and Barbara and thanks them for the excellent care and kindness received during her final months.

Memorial contributions may be sent in her name to the donor’s favorite charity.
