For The Madera Tribune
More than 130 students at Cesar Chavez Elementary receive free backpacks and school supplies during a giveaway Tuesday morning.
Madera Unified School District (MUSD) students at Cesar Chavez Elementary School were in for a treat last week. A local Madera company, Menasha Packaging, generously donated $5,400 to purchase more than 500 backpacks filled with essential school supplies for students across the district.
After enjoying a good breakfast, students at Cesar Chavez Elementary were the first to receive their backpacks and supplies. More than 130 students received the backpacks.
The district plans to deliver the remaining backpacks to the other four chosen elementary schools later this summer.
