Marge Medellin will always be a Madera treasure. 

She dedicated her life to her family and her community, and she became a historical milestone when she was installed as the mayor of Madera. This made her the first Latina mayor in the history of California. This honor was shared with America from the floor of Congress by Representative Jim Costa.

In 2023, this reporter was assigned to interview Marge in preparation for writing her biography for a Madera Method project. We held our first session in the MUSD central office. Unfortunately, it was our last. Marge was fighting a vicious disease, and the struggle sapped her strength, robbing us from further interviews.
