Madera Community College President Angel Reyna cuts the ribbon for the school’s Multicultural and Veterans centers during a ceremony Friday morning.

Madera Community College marked a significant milestone with two new student spaces opening on campus: The Multicultural Center and the Veterans Center.

These new facilities were made possible through the Lumina Million Dollar Challenge, a national grant awarded to MCC in summer 2022.

The Lumina Million Dollar Challenge invited community colleges across the country to compete for a grant that helps colleges transform their campuses. Madera Community College’s theme was centered around the “sense of belonging,” a core value that MCC promotes by creating a welcoming environment for all students, no matter where they are in their educational journey. Grant funds were used to help construct the new centers, which now stand in the space formerly occupied by the campus library.
