Man struck by train

A Union Pacific train is stopped on the rails after it struck a pedestrian late Saturday night.
The Madera Police Department received a call for service from Union Pacific Railroad company, advising their northbound train through the city of Madera had struck a pedestrian in the area of Ninth Street and South E Street. Officers responded to the area Saturday evening at about 10 p.m., and located a 40 to 50 year old, unidentified Hispanic male adult, lying on the east side of the tracks, north of Ninth Street.
Medical aid was rendered to the male, and he was transported by EMS to a local hospital with major injuries. Sadly, the male succumbed to his injuries while in transit to the hospital.
At this time, the male has not been identified. The Madera PD is is working diligently to identify the male, and asks if anyone has any information regarding this investigation to call the Madera Police Department at 675-4220. You may remain anonymous.
