Mailbox theft

Over the last two-weeks Madera Police Department officers have responded to reports of two community mailboxes being broken into.

Officers responded to a call in the 100 block of I Street Friday evening related to a subject looking into a mailbox which did not belong to him. Officers contacted the subject, and later arrested him for possession of stolen property and a violation of his Post-release Community Supervision terms and conditions.

Currently Madera PD does not have any evidence that he is related to the other community mailbox break ins, but the PD wants to remind residents that it is important to check and remove mail from their mailboxes daily.
