A fallen tree closes down a section of Cleveland Avenue between Granada Drive and Schnoor Avenue on Monday.
A powerful storm swept through Madera on Monday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 25 miles per hour.
As the storm intensified, it uprooted 12 large trees across the city, creating hazardous conditions and blocking several roadways.
The first call came in early that afternoon regarding a fallen tree on West Cleveland Avenue. Jose Medina, from the City of Madera’s Public Works Water Division who was working standby for Public Works, quickly mobilized a team to assess and respond to the damage.
