Madera Elks Club members gather with students from Eastin Arcola School in the reading room with books the Elks donated for their “Adopt a School” program.
The Madera Elks Lodge established an “Adopt A School” program to serve a rural community that needs extra help, and they chose Eastin Arcola Elementary School.
The Elks first purchased about 200 story books to help with the school’s literacy program, and the books will be added to the school’s vending machine. Students earn character points to be able to pick out their own books to take home.
The Elks also purchased reading chairs and cushions with their school colors to be used in their reading room to feel comfortable and have fun during their reading time.
