Life lost in SR 41 crash

The driver of this Chevy Cobalt made a left turn in front of an oncoming Honda Civic on Sunday. The driver of the Cobalt was not wearing a seatbelt and died from the crash. The CHP reminds motorists always to wear their seat belt. The driver of the Honda received moderate injuries, and was wearing a seat belt.

 

The Merced California Highway Patrol Communications Center received a call of a crash involving two vehicles on State Route 41, at Road 209 with one unconscious party. CHP Madera Area officers responded to investigate the crash on Sunday at about 9 a.m.


A 63-year-old Fresno resident, was driving a white 2000 Honda Civic, traveling southbound on State Route 41, approaching Road 209, at an undetermined speed. A 55-year-old Coarsegold resident was driving a blue 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, northbound on State Route 41, approaching Road 209 in the left turn lane.


The driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt made a left turn toward Road 209, directly in front of the white Honda Civic. The driver of the Honda took evasive action by swerving to the right, but due to the close proximity, the front of the Honda Civic crashed into the right front of the blue Chevrolet Cobalt.
