For The Madera Tribune

Liberty High School’s Gunreet Mahil.

For recent Liberty High School graduate Gunreet Mahil, she has done everything she can to prepare herself for her future occupation.

She graduated from Liberty with a 4.79 grade point average, and ranked No. 3 in her class. At the same time, she graduated from Madera Community College.

“I was majoring in biological sciences,” she said. “I finished all my general education at Madera Community College. I took about 12-15 classes. I started it the summer of my sophomore year. I took physics through Fresno State. I took two classes the fall semester of my senior year and took sociology the spring semester. Our No. 1 and No. 2 (ranked students at LHS) were really close. They took an AP class that I didn’t take. The rankings didn’t matter to me. I got to do the valedictorian speech (at commencement ceremonies). That’s what I was most excited about.”
