Letters: God bless the U.S., American patriots

I would like to thank Mr. Royal Goodman for his recent letter to the Tribune addressing the fact that true Patriotism is lacking in the United States.

I would also like to personally thank him for his service in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War, and the sacrifices he and many others made to protect the US and the world. I, and many others, remember our days in school when you started your day by standing, placing your hand over your heart and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Do kids still do this everyday? I doubt it, as our schools feel they don’t want to “hurt anyone’s feelings.” Do kids even know how to recite the Pledge? I doubt it, also, as schools probably don’t teach it and don’t require it.
