Letters: Doomsday

I have heard about this day since I was a kid. Now we have a “doomsday glacier” the size of Florida, in the Antarctic. It’s melting, they say, and it will raise the sea levels 2 feet.
I don’t know much, but I don’t agree.
Water expands when it freezes. This glacier has broken away so it is now an Iceberg. Icebergs are 90 percent submerged, which means that “water” is already in the ocean. Ten percent is above the water line, and that is all we are talking about. The vastness of the oceans can easily absorb that bit of ice. Imagine removing all of Florida’s dirt and spreading it over the United States, not the world. It would not raise our surface 2 feet.
