Omar Alvarez.
When Matilda Torres High School senior Omar Alvarez walks across the stage during Commencement Ceremonies Tuesday at the MTHS Football stadium, he will walk across with pride knowing he helped build the the traditions of the school.
“I was a part of the first-ever ASB class where we started on Zoom,” he said. “It comes with the unique ability to set yourself in the legacy of the school. We had the task of creating what Torres is. I do think I was able to play a big part of that. Behind the scenes, I’m the one with the shirt designs. It’s something I picked up. That’s one of my legacies, creating a cohesive space for our students, as well as representing them with what we put out as a school.”
However, one of the biggest awards Alvarez received during Madera’s high school “Awards Season,” was receiving the Rotary Club’s Kenny Taylor Boy of the Year award.
