Holiday runs for City title

Madera American’s Holiday Muffler celebrates on the pitcher’s mound after its 8-6 victory over Fitzgerald, Alvarez and Ciummo in the Madera Little League City Championship game Saturday.

Madera American Little League Champions, Holiday Muffler, created enough havoc on the bases for an 8-6 victory over Madera National Little League champions Fitzgerald, Alvarez and Ciummo to capture its second straight Madera City Championship.

Holiday also took advantage of seven wild pitches and a passed ball to help create the runs for the victory Saturday at the Madera National Little League park to give manager Steve Gallegos his second straight City Championship to add to his four M.A.L.L. titles.

“All year, we’ve been the smallest team,” Gallegos said. “We have no home runs on the team. These guys put a lot of pressure on people. We grind it out and put pressure to see if teams will break.”
