Liberty’s Dolan Dilbeck makes an interception in the end zone during the first quarter of Friday’s victory over Fowler. Dilbeck added an 80-yard touchdown reception and a 103-yard interception return for a touchdown in the win.

FOWLER — The Liberty Hawks did just enough to shake a two game losing streak and pick up their first win in the Northwest Sequoia Conference.

However, because of the Yosemite Badgers, the Hawks played only their second game in four weeks, and the rust showed. Yosemite cancelled both potential games against the Hawks. However, Liberty rebounded with Friday’s win over the Fowler Redcats, 28-20.

“There were a lot of big plays tonight, but we were on the good side,” head coach Mike Nolte said. “They are a good offensive football team so we played well defensively. I’m proud of our guys. We’ve played two games in four weeks, and it’s not easy.”
