CLOVIS — Playing some of the top teams in the state, the Liberty Hawks came away with a lone victory in the Fresno Easter Classic.
The Hawks’ lone win was a 5-0 victory over Sunnyside. Danny Sandate tossed a one-hitter in Monday’s win.
Liberty dropped a 10-1 decision to Stockdale on Monday, and closed the tournament with a walk-off loss to Hoover on Wednesday, 2-1. Liberty pitcher Colton Azevedo tossed a gem for 6 2/3 innings. He allowed just one hit and struck out eight. However his downfall were the walks. He closed the game with four straight walks to force in the game-winning run.
