H.O.P.E. Ministries help those in need

Allen Baraldi/The Madera Tribune

Members of H.O.P.E. Ministry gather last Saturday before giving away meals and clothing to those in need.

The H.O.P.E. (Help Our People Eat) Ministry of Madera gave out meals and clothing to those in need at the Madera Courthouse Park on December 28.

The event was organized by Dora Avila and Richard Torres more than nine years ago, and has been continued regularly ever since by its members. Unfortunately, Torres passed away two days before this year’s event.

Many local restaurants and ministry members, donated food to make the meals that were given out. Some of the restaurants were The Vineyard, Burrito King, Sugar Pine, Sals, Perko’s, Waffle Spot, Las Islitas, and TJs Grill.
