Gray tosses perfect game in opener
The Madera South Stallions baseball team opened the season in a perfect way.
Fresno State signee Murf Gray tossed an 80-pitch perfect game on Friday at Eddie Chapa Field for a 5-0 victory over Washington Union-Easton.
Gray struck out 14 batters en route to the perfecto, the first in his storied career.
The Stallions scored three runs in the first inning and cruised the rest of the way.
Jorge Gutierrez led the Stallions with a pair of doubles. Elijah Tang also added a double. Xavier Cantu, Jasir Alvarez, Gilbert Moisa and Anthony Gamiz each hit singles.
Tang and Cantu drove in first inning runs with sacrifice flies and Brian Monges drove in another run by reaching on a fielder’s choice.
