A bowl of cooked pinto beans goes great with a hunk of fried bread dough.
My oldest son always asks me to make a pot of beans when he visits or if I am visiting his house.
It is kind of a family tradition, as when I was a kid (here I go again), I would walk to my grandmother’s house after school and she almost always had a pot of beans on the stove. Kids are usually hungry after school, so I was happy to enjoy a bowl of beans, especially if there were some tortillas.
My mom also was good at cooking pinto beans, and my sister and I carried on that tradition. Our children did the same (except for my youngest son, who never did like beans).
