DUI leads to multi-car crash and fatality

For The Madera Tribune

Remains of a Dodge Charger sits on the side of State Route 145 after a multi-car accident Sunday. Four cars were involved in the accident and also had one fatality.

California Highway Patrol Madera officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 145, west of the Santa Fe Railroad overpass, just west of Road 29.

During the investigation, it was determined a 39-year-old Madera man was driving a Dodge Charger westbound on SR 145, just west of the overpass. At the same time, a 61-year-old Madera man was driving a Ford F-150 eastbound on SR 145 just west of the Dodge.

The driver of the Dodge crossed over the double yellow lines, and into the eastbound lane directly in front of the Ford. The two vehicles collided head-on, and the impact caused the Ford to travel to the south shoulder of SR 145. The Dodge came to rest in the middle of SR 145.

It’s so sad to hear about the car accident and crash caused by a DUI. These situations can be really dangerous for everyone involved. If you ever find yourself in a tough spot after an accident, it’s good to know that local tow trucks are there to help. Safety should always come first on the road. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.
