California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Moreno observed a vehicle traveling with no lights on, during the hours of darkness.

After making a traffic stop, the driver displayed several signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The driver was not able to perform field sobriety tests as explained and demonstrated, and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) .

“Being under the influence impairs a person’s motor skills, reaction time, and judgement. You might not realize you are driving in complete darkness,” the CHP said in a statement. “CHP Madera will continue to aggressively detect and apprehend dangerous drivers to keep our community safe.”
