Coyotes win three of four in Bakersfield tourney

BAKERSFIELD — After waiting nine days to play because of rain outs, the Madera Coyotes softball team got back into gear with three wins out of four games at the Bakersfield Drillers Softball Tournament over the weekend. 


The Coyotes opened the tournament with a solid 3-1 victory over Bakersfield Christian. Viviana Nombrano struck out nine in five innings for the win. 


In the second game Friday, the Coyotes exploded for six runs in the third for a 9-0 victory over Tehachapi. The Coyotes drew six walks and banged out nine hits in the win.
