Madera’s Ari Gill looks for her shot during Tuesday’s Central Section Div. III first-round victory over Bakersfield Christian. Gill led the Coyotes with six goals in a 15-11 win.

The Madera Coyotes girls water polo team swept through the County/Metro Athletic Conference with an 8-0 record, and looked to do damage in the Central Section Div. III playoffs.

Up first for the No. 3 seeded Coyotes and first-year head coach Lola Gill was No. 14 Bakersfield Christian. The Coyotes scored 10 goals in the first half and kept the advantage for a 15-11 victory over the Eagles.

Madera played No. 6 Frontier out of Bakersfield at McAlister Pool in the Div. III quarterfinals on Thursday. The winner will play in the semifinals on Tuesday against the Santa Ynez/Dinuba winner.
