Coyotes win first round vs. Stallions

Madera’s Aaliyah String goes up for two of her 11 points. She was one of two Coyotes with a double-double.

In a precursor to facing each other twice in the County/Metro Athletic Conference, the Madera Coyotes girls basketball team won Round 1 of 3 in the Madera South Shootout over the Madera South Stallions.

The Coyotes jumped out to an eight-point fourth quarter lead and held on for a 42-37 victory over the Stallions. It was a battle of Madera’s rebounding and turnovers against Madera South’s shooting, and lack of rebounding.

Madera pulled down 50 rebounds with Aaliyah String and Brooke Houghton each pulling down 15 boards each. Houghton led the Coyotes with 12 points while String added 11 points.
