Coyotes put away upset-minded Selma

Madera’s Brianah Hamilton connects on a first inning home run for her school record-extending 19th homer of her career in Friday’s win over Selma.

 

The 12th seeded Selma Bears advanced to the Div. II softball Central Section semifinals after an upset win in the first round, but the Madera Coyotes put away any thoughts of another upset by scoring in the first five innings for a dominant 8-1 victory.


The fourth-seeded Coyotes advanced to their second straight Div. II semifinal game after Friday’s resounding vitctory. Nastasha Griffin tossed a three-hitter in her best pitching performance of her Coyote career.


Brianah Hamilton homered for the third time in the last four games to help the offense. Destinee Avila hit a double, along with two singles and Neveah Galvan added three hits. Griffin also had a pair of hits in the 13 hit attack.
