Coyotes learning on the fly

Madera’s Brooke Houghton flies down the lane for a layup during Tuesday’s loss to Kingsburg. Houghton scored nine points with a team-leading 10 rebounds.
The Madera Coyotes girls basketball team is so young that you can practically see the growth from the first quarter to the end of the game.
That was most evident in Tuesday’s 49-37 loss to the Kingsburg Vikings in Joe Flores Gym.
The Coyotes found themselves in a 20-8 hole at the end of the first quarter, and fell behind, 27-8, in the second quarter. However, from that point, Madera outscored Kingsburg 29-22 and even cut the lead down to seven in the fourth quarter.
