Madera’s Josh Alvarez celebrates a run-scoring double during Wednesday’s 6-5 loss to Placer to conclude the Fresno Easter Classic. Alvarez had two hits in the loss.
Madera Coyotes baseball coach Andy Underwood was happy with his team’s 3-1 record at the Fresno Easter Classic this week, but the lone loss left a sour taste in his mouth.
The Coyotes opened the tournament with a 10-0 victory over Hoover, and then picked up a 2-1 walk-off win over Davis at Mel Parker Field. They also picked up a 2-1 victory over Frontier. However, the 6-5 loss to Placer will be the tough pill to swallow after giving up two two-run leads.
Madera continues County/Metro Athletic Conference play this week by hosting San Joaquin Memorial on Wednesday and playing at Edison on Friday.
