Coyotes get two mercy rule wins

Wendy Alexander/The Madera Tribune

Madera’s Zach Sanchez celebrates a second inning RBI single during Monday’s victory over Hanford West with first base coach Anthony Marmolejo watching.

With a dominating 10-0 victory over the Dinuba Emperors, the Madera Coyotes baseball team earned a trip to the championship game of the Fowler Preseason Tournament.

The Coyotes, who remain undefeated, will face host Fowler at 6 p.m. in Fowler for the title game Saturday.

Madera exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to invoke the mercy rule against Dinuba on Tuesday. They took advantage of 10 Dinuba errors that led to six unearned runs and send the Coyotes to the championship game.
