Coyotes football earns playoff bye

For the first time in recent memory, the Madera Coyotes football team earned a bye in the first round of the Central Section playoffs.


The Coyotes closed out the regular season with a dominating 53-34 victory over the Justin Garza Guardians to finish the regular season with a 6-4 overall record and two wins in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.


Madera earned a first-round bye in Div. III while earning a No. 2 seed. They will play the winner of Independence out of Bakersfield and Nipomo next week in Memorial Stadium. Porterville earned the top seed in the bracket.
