Coyotes complete sweep

Wendy Alexander/The Madera Tribune

Madera’s Joc Mendez hits the first base bag while the Memorial first baseman has trouble with the throw during Wednesday’s 13-0 victory over the Panthers. Mendez hit a pair of doubles to lead the Coyotes.

After the San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno Panthers softball team couldn’t play its scheduled game against the Madera Coyotes earlier this season, thoughts were that game was not going to be played.

However, after some negotiating, the Coyotes and Panthers met twice in a 24-hour span. On Tuesday, the Coyotes played their scheduled game against the Panthers and dominated with a 30-0 victory.

Then, on Wednesday, in Zimmerman Field at the new Madera Coyote Softball Stadium, the Coyotes delivered a 13-0 victory. It was a measure of relief after the Coyotes suffered back-to-back County/Metro Athletic Conference last week for the first time since 2018.
