Madera’s Malea Ricks puts down a bunt for a base hit during a 3-0 victory over Pioneer Valley in the Redwood Softball Tournament on Friday at Redwood High School. Ricks went 3-for-3 against Pioneer Valley. She scored all three Madera runs, and stole three bases, including home in the win.

VISALIA — After struggling for some consistency the previous day, the Madera Coyotes softball team picked up a victory in the Redwood Softball Tournament before losing to the hosts Friday at Redwood High School.

The Coyotes had trouble hitting with runners in scoring position in a 1-1 tie with Tulare Union on Thursday, and followed that with a 5-2 loss to Mission Oak.

However, the Coyotes did just enough for a 3-0 victory over Pioneer Valley in the first game Friday before losing, 5-0, to Redwood.
