Coyotes battle with league leader

Madera’s Damian Bispham and Jayden Martinez, left, rise up to make the block on the Sanger attacker during Tuesday’s three-set loss to the County/Metro Athletic Conference leaders in Joe Flores Gym. Although the Coyotes lost in three sets, the margin of victory by Sanger was only 14 points.

Madera Coyotes boys volleyball head coach Rhonda Jefferson-Counsel knew the week after Spring Break was going to be a tough one.

Not only did she have to deal with her team coming off the break a little rusty without any games for a week-and-a-half, but her team also had to face the top two teams in not only the County/Metro Athletic Conference, but in the Central Section — Sanger and Bullard.

The Coyotes played tough against the Sanger Apaches in a three-set loss Tuesday in Joe Flores Gym. However, the margin of victory in the three matches was only 14 points (25-21, 25-19, 25-21).
