Coyote softball earns Easter week split

CLOVIS — The Madera Coyotes softball team started the Buchanan Easter Classic on a positive note, but suffered two losses on the final day to end up with a split.


The Coyotes, ranked No. 10 in the Central Section, opened the tournament with a 6-0 victory over Clovis (ranked No. 46), and followed with a 4-3, comeback victory over Garces (No. 11) on Monday. 


On Tuesday, the Coyotes dropped a respectable 4-2 decision to No. 1 Central in the first game, but dropped a 5-1 decision to No. 5 Clovis East in the final game of the tournament.
