Ryan McWherter, executive director of the Madera County Food Bank, holding scissors, is joined by board members, staff, local dignitaries, family and friends for a ribbon cutting ceremony during the grand opening of the food bank’s new facility on Wednesday.

With Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” starting off the festivities, Madera County Food Bank Executive Director Ryan McWherter officially opened the new Madera County Food Bank building during the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

McWherter welcomed many community dignitaries and invited guests Wednesday to the new facility at 1055 Knox Road that doubled the capacity in his old facility on Pine Street.

“This is such an awesome event,” McWherter said Wednesday. “I think half of the population of Madera is here. The huge impact we have been making in the community to have a place where my staff can be fully functional and serve our community in the capacity that we need to do is great. To be the first business you see coming into Madera is very important to us. We are all very excited, not only my staff, but the Board of Directors.
