CHP makes helicopter rescue
For The Madera Tribune
A medical helicopter flies over a vehicle crash site on Avenue 25 and Road 9. The crash left three with major injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
CHP Helicopter 42 received a request from Sierra Forest Service to provide a hoist rescue and transport of an injured firefighter who was fighting a fire in the Greys Mountain area.
Due to the rugged terrain and tall trees, use of the hoist was the only option to bring the injured firefighter on board. A CHP flight crew member was lowered into a small clearing near the scene to assist the firefighter up the hoist.
The firefighter was then hoisted on board by a CHP paramedic (hoist operator).
